93 POINTS & 4 STARS: Bob Campbell MW GOLD MEDAL: New Zealand International Wine Show 2023
"Dense, inky red with chocolate/mocha, red-fleshed plum, cassis and peppery/spice characters. Strongly varietal wine with a dusty texture and lingering finish. The product of a very favourable vintage." - Bob Campbell MW
This is plush and quite generously framed old vine Gimblett Gravels Malbec; an immediately attractive wine with plenty of fine tannin and fresh acidity on the finish.
"Complex layers of bramble, blackberry, and black cherry interplay against the hallmark bright acidity and soft tannins of Decibel Malbec. With it's fruit and spice balance, this is easy to pair with a broad range of flavours, try with grilled vegetables, barbecued meats, or boldly spiced dishes." - Winery Notes
I haven’t tried every bottle in this selection yet, however, so far they are all very tasty. I’m a Chardonnay lover, always on the look out for a dryish not sweet wine and these are just right for me. An excellent mixed case and we’ll priced.
This was a very nice surprise in Wine Direct’s very welcome Plenty Under $20 category. Beautifully fruity, rich and smooth. Often the Plenty Under $20 range is a little light for the depth I like but I will definitely be reordering this one.
A great summer wine… elegant and a fine balance of lighter fruit and delicate acidity with a nice dry finish. Very drinkable with or without food. A nice change from our usual unoaked French Chardonnay
