Collection: Italy

The ancient Greeks called Italy "Oenotria" meaning wine land and its inhabitants are as passionate about their wines today as they've ever been. Hand in hand with this passion goes an intense commitment to local styles and local grape varieties, of which there are said to be more than 500. Yes 500 different varieties! As a result, Italy produces a wider, more fascinating range of individual, characterful wines than anywhere else in the world. And over the last two decades in particular, Italy's very finest wines have improved out of sight and their star is still on the rise. If anyone is going to truly challenge the famous names of France for supremacy in the battle for the hearts and minds of wine collectors the world over, it's the Italians. Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône look out. Here comes Tuscany, Piedmont and Sicily!

This Primitivo Rosé from the Doppio Passo brand is a tribute to Carlo and Maria Botter who, together, founded the company in 1928, building it step by step, day after day, working together to achieve a common goal.

The wine is made from 100% Primitivo grapes, which are harvested by hand. The must obtained from the pressing of the grapes remains in contact with the pomace for about 12 hours. Once pressed, fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature (16-18 ° C). Finally it ages in steel at 17-17 ° C until bottling.

“A classic, balanced well-made Prosecco style”
     - Cam Douglas MS

“Elegant and inviting. A charming, crowd-pleasing style”
     - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

This brand is inspired by the 1600 Baroque movement, the same date when the first documented evidence of Prosecco was recorded. Like this wine Baroque was born in Italy and aimed to express the splendour and power of the Church and monarchies of that time. Similarly, this soft, sumptuous sparkling wine from the Botter family is perfect for celebrations. From the temperate Veneto region where the Glera variety is protected from the alpine winds and ripens perfectly on the clay sandstone soils. Soft pressed juice is cool-fermented then refermented using the Martinotti Charmat method. An understated, subtle, fruity bouquet with notes of peach, green apple and lilac gives way to a charming, fresh, lively palate. Ideal as an aperitif , it also pairs with fish, shellfish and canapes.
