"Beautifully aromatic, with lovely, lifted floral notes, fresh raspberry and cassis, then to a supple palate dressed with dark chocolate, red pepper and delicious pure fruit. Light on its feet but bursting with flavour!"
- Decanter World Wine Awards
Sweetly fruited with spicy nuances, the wine shows dark plum, spiced cherry, toasted nut and smoked game notes on the nose. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity with plump mouthfeel combined with finely infused tannins, finishing wonderfully structured and flavoursome.
To the north of the small village of Saint-Lambert, the Chateau Fonbadet boasts a choice location, amidst the most reputed estates of the Pauillac Appellation: Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Latour, Chateau Lynch Bages, Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and Chateau Pichon Baron de Longueville.
Since its creation in the 1800's, the estate has been owned by different families whose names are still notorious in the region today. Since 2000, the winemaking process is carried out by Pascale Peyronie, who took over from his father Pierre.
The 50 acre vineyard of Chateau Fonbadet is planted with the traditional Medoc grape varieties: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and an additional 5% Petit Verdot and Malbec.
ABV: 13.5%
Clear cab sav and merlot on the nose, clean not complex. Soft tannins and good fruit moderately sustained.. Clean finish. Good oak handling. Certainly not a platinum whatever that is but good silver and excellent value for the money
