100% Chardonnay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Area: (1.08 acres)
Vineyards: Les Chaumées vineyard is located at the edge of Chassagne-Montrachet, bordering Saint-Aubin. It is the highest positioned vineyard directly above the Premier Cru Les Vergers, Les Chenevottes. Clos Saint-Abdon refers to this big patch of land that used to be surrounded by a wall, inside Les Chaumées. Shallow soils have a higher limestone content than clay, imparting a bracing minerality. The largest portion is 50+ years old.
“Fleshy and supple, with taut and well-defined flavors of peach, apple, lemon cake and buttered pastry. There is beautiful harmony here and it's almost seamless at this young stage. Terrific length, with a peach cobbler and spice aftertaste. Drink now through 2028."

“The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Chaumées Clos St. Abdon 1er Cru has a spicy, lively, higher-toned bouquet with stem ginger and light rhubarb scents filtering through the citrus fruit. The palate is balanced and rounded in style, with lower acidity than its peers, pineapple and yellow plum. Maybe, it just lacks a bit of tension on the finish, but is quite persistent in the mouth. Rather delicious and it coheres nicely in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.”

“Pale to mid yellow. The oak is quite prominent on the nose but well integrated with the fruit. There is plenty of energy here, with a significant volume of fresh yellow fruit matched by well integrated acidity. The oak is nicely judged too”
