Vaillons is a significant Premier Cru classified climat of Chablis, located just south-west of Chablis town. The Vaillons slopes are predominantly south-east-facing, and are similar in their geological profile to the Chablis Grand Cru sites which lie just the other side of Chablis town, across the Serein Valley. The soils here are composed of light, sandy topsoil with the Kimmeridgian (limestone-rich) subsoil so characteristic of Chablis. In fact, the easternmost Vaillons vines are planted only 1.25 miles (2km) away from those of the prestigious Les Clos Grand Cru climat. Vaillons is separated from the Montmains Premier Cru climat only by a 1000ft (300m) strip of flatter, unclassified land. Together, they occupy a roughly rectangular area that accounts for a large proportion of Chablis Premier Cru production.
"Pure, elegant Premier Cru Chablis from young wine-making talent Vincent Dampt. Pale lemon in colour with green hue. The nose shows pure citrus and orchard fruits. The palate has a crushed sea-shell minerality and a rich creaminess, all balanced with crackling acidity and a long finish."

"There is a touch of orange peel character to the more floral-scented nose of mineral reduction and green apple. There is again fine volume to the delicious, punchy and expansive flavors that display excellent depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This beauty seems quite promising."

"Two thirds Beugnons and one third Chatains. Just fined. Pale lemon yellow. This also has more volume than the Daniel Dampt wine. Not so much white fruit but not too trenchant behind either, indeed the fresh lemon fruit opens out well at the back. Best After 2025."
