Bonete Raicilla Costa is a blend of 60% Angustifolia Haw and 40% Rhodacantha, These agave are roasted underground and then distilled twice in wooden stills carved from the sacred Oyamel tree, hence the front label.
The resulting spirit is wild and powerful with unparalleled depth and racing acidity. A unique example of what Jalisco has to offer locally called as "vino", but officially marketed as 'Raicilla' to prevent confusion with the state's other agave spirit, tequila. No one is confusing these two products!
This Raicilla is savoury with olive brine aromas and smoky BBQ flavours.
We've been fans of their Syrah and Chardonnay for some time and this is another go-to product we'll add to the list.
Light in colour, but plenty of depth and flavour and pleasingly dry.
Highly recommended.
I haven’t tried every bottle in this selection yet, however, so far they are all very tasty. I’m a Chardonnay lover, always on the look out for a dryish not sweet wine and these are just right for me. An excellent mixed case and we’ll priced.
This was a very nice surprise in Wine Direct’s very welcome Plenty Under $20 category. Beautifully fruity, rich and smooth. Often the Plenty Under $20 range is a little light for the depth I like but I will definitely be reordering this one.
A great summer wine… elegant and a fine balance of lighter fruit and delicate acidity with a nice dry finish. Very drinkable with or without food. A nice change from our usual unoaked French Chardonnay
