93 POINTS: Wine Direct Tasting Team

"This is textbook, approachable, easy drinking Bordeaux. Smooth with that sort after ripe fruit appeal Les Moutins is head and shoulders above any local merlot dominant blends at the same price! Well balanced with deliciously ripe fruit. Nearly-all Merlot, this velvety claret is ready to drink!"
- Wine Direct Tasting Team

Château Les Moutins lies on the Right Bank of the Garonne. It has been family owned since 1852 and boasts 60 hectares of vineyard, most of those 20+ years old. The clay, limestone and chalk soils are key to the freshness and expressive aromas of the wine, redolent of ripe plum, redcurrant and rose petal. Merlot is the main grape on this side of the river, which accounts for the voluptuous, velvety style of the wine.

It also helps that it  is from the astoundingly good 2019 vintage. Described as "through-the-roof-good” by RobertParker.com, "an excellent vintage” by Neal Martin, Vinous, and “A beautiful, incredibly high-quality vintage for Bordeaux” by critic Jeb Dunnuck.
