Re-launched in 2006 making it the first new Templeton product in over a decade, this middle-aged bottling has a soft rye nose-feel and aromas of shellac, light spice, dark rye bread and sweet oak. Genteel, well-rounded and slightly oily in the mouth, flavours of apple pie, cinnamon, muddled mint and low-key rye spices complete this soft and very accessible expression.
This is a lovely drop of Merlot, demonstrating the wine skills of the Languedoc Roussillon area. I holidayed in the region some years ago and loved their wines - great to see them this side of the world and available. Versatile, easy drinking. So good my neighbour has also bought a case after tasting mine!
