94 POINTS: James Suckling 93 POINTS: Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
"The 2022 Riesling is fleshy and green, leading with apples, kiwi fruit, juniper berry, honeydew melon and brine. The acidity, which is coiled within the fruit like a spring ready to launch, is austere and tight—just exactly what we seek out and hope for in Frankland River Riesling. It's textural, with cheesecloth through the finish. Excellent." - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
"The wide spectrum of citrus, floral and herbal aromas really makes this stand out in the category. Ripe, juicy and elegant on the medium- to full-bodied palate where there's excellent concentration. Long, generous and impeccably balanced finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - James Suckling
This is a lovely drop of Merlot, demonstrating the wine skills of the Languedoc Roussillon area. I holidayed in the region some years ago and loved their wines - great to see them this side of the world and available. Versatile, easy drinking. So good my neighbour has also bought a case after tasting mine!
As an aperitif or companion to a variety of fish, white meat or vegetarian meals including milder curries or salads, this rose works well. It is both fruity (melon, berry notes) to start and slightly acidic at the finish. It is simply pleasurable drinking at a reasonable price and has become something of a personal favourite.
