Germany is famously regarded as the home of the Riesling grape. Of course it is also home to much more but there's no arguing that it's German Riesling that gets wine fans around the world really fizzing. These wines range from fully dry "trocken" to the ultra sweet "Trockenbeerenauslese" (or TBA). But it's the many styles in between that really provide the most interesting drinking with fresh, racy Kabinett wines combining ripe fruit with zingy acidity, Spatlese and Auslese being picked later, provide richer more concentrated wines. And it's the interplay and balance between these elements; fruit flavour, minerality, sweetness and acidity that makes these wines such fantastic fun, and at their very best, nothing short of mind-blowing.

Red fruits, spice and slightly gamey, smokey flavour. Tannins add a bit of structure but still soft. Finish is tart red fruit. Lots of flavour but won't overwhelm most meals. Great with aged cheeses.
