"2015 was a solid vintage, and the Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Sangiovese (20%) harvest began during the first week of October. The vineyard is one of many takes of Tuscany's Alberese clay-limestone soil sourced from the floor of the ocean in the Pliocene Epoch. Post-fermentation, the ageing runs 14 months in first and second-use barrels, followed by a further 12 months in the bottle. Lok for a woodsy aroma dotted with spice and licorice. On the palate, wild berries and plums lead the way with an earthy, licorice undercurrent. The styling is Italian elegant making it very food-friendly. Think roasts, game or mushroom pasta or risotto dishes. (Anthony Gismondi)."

The Castello d’Albola Estate is situated in Radda at the heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation, where the legacy of grape cultivation dates back to the time of the Etruscans. The Acciaiuoli family commissioned the estate to plant its lofty vineyard in Chianti Classico in the 15th century as a symbol of their high status. Over the centuries, many noble Tuscan families have owned the property, and the estate has earned various accolades for its wines. In 1979, the Zonin family acquired Castello d’Albola promising to uphold the estate’s excellence for future generations.
