Claiming to be a world-first, this edition of Hernö is aged in casks made from juniper wood. Matured for 30 days in 39.25-litre casks, this has a herbal sweetness, and notes of juniper and citrus peel. Try a Caramelized Gin & Tonic:
Stir everything for about ten seconds. Strain over an ice cube into an Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with orange zest.
*Caramelized & reduced tonic syrup: Boil 100ml tonic (Fever Tree Indian Tonic). Caramelize 60 grams of sugar on medium heat, and stir continuously. When all sugar is in fluid form and has turned yellow-brown, pour the heated tonic over the sugar. Be careful, it may splash! Stir until sugar and tonic is mixed. Keep heated for ten minutes. Strain into a bottle and keep cold.
We've been fans of their Syrah and Chardonnay for some time and this is another go-to product we'll add to the list.
Light in colour, but plenty of depth and flavour and pleasingly dry.
Highly recommended.
I haven’t tried every bottle in this selection yet, however, so far they are all very tasty. I’m a Chardonnay lover, always on the look out for a dryish not sweet wine and these are just right for me. An excellent mixed case and we’ll priced.
This was a very nice surprise in Wine Direct’s very welcome Plenty Under $20 category. Beautifully fruity, rich and smooth. Often the Plenty Under $20 range is a little light for the depth I like but I will definitely be reordering this one.
A great summer wine… elegant and a fine balance of lighter fruit and delicate acidity with a nice dry finish. Very drinkable with or without food. A nice change from our usual unoaked French Chardonnay
