From the south facing, steep slope behind mid-village Zeltingen this is our favourite spot for dry wines. A generous layer of topsoil composed of crumbly, small-grained slate mixed with organic matter sits on the bedrock, providing for a good moisture retention while permitting excellent drainage at the same time. Warm site with excellent southern exposure. Very expressive wine, depicting both slatey minerality and beautiful expression of ripe stone fruit. Very attractive and super elegant.
“I love the subtle spiciness of this extremely elegant Mosel dry Riesling which is rippling with slatey minerality. Super-focused and precise. With a little aeration in glass beautiful peach and honeysuckle aromas emerge. Long, silky finish with a lot of subtle nuances. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.”

“Still very cloudy but pure, bright and fresh on the nose, the sample of the 2021 Zeltinger Schlossberg GG exhibits a coolish, clear and flinty, pretty rocky bouquet without being aristocratic like the Sonnenuhr but with the intensity of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Medium to full-bodied, very intense and fleshy on the palate yet also refined and very salty, this is a fascinating, pure and elegant, uplifted and finessed Schlossberg that is celestial in its airiness and brightness. Pretty floral. Tasted as a sample in July 2022.”
