Weingut Wittmann Weisser Burgunder (Pinot Blanc) 2022
93 POINTS: Stuart Pigott - James Suckling
92 POINTS: Heiner Lobenberg
90 POINTS: Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
"If you don't yet know what wonderful flavours (including citrus blossom) the Pinot Blanc grape can have, then you must try this little masterpiece at a friendly price."
- Stuart Pigott
"From calcareous soils that are less rich than those for Pinot Gris and aged in large oak vats, the 2022 Weisser Burgunder Trocken shows a pure, fresh and elegant, remarkably fine bouquet of white fruits and some iodine notes. Fresh and vivacious on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, savory and grippy Pinot Blanc with stunning classy acidity and healthy phenolic grip on the finish. There are delicate bitters here as well, which make this still-young wine a gastronomic one. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap."
- Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
Describing Philipp Wittmann's "Estate Weisser Burgunder" as a cool-climate Burgundy doesn't seem so far-fetched. It is rare to find such bright, crystal-clear citric notes in this variety. They are combined with fine almond notes, a very light toasted flavour, herbs and a subtle exoticism. On the palate, the wine is creamy, typical of the variety, with a fine and elegant acidity. As Stuart Pigott so aptly puts it in the 93-point rating for JAMES SUCKLING? "If you don't yet know what wonderful flavours (including citrus blossom) the Pinot Blanc grape can have, then you must try this little masterpiece at a friendly price.
