Les Heritiers Saint-Genys Mercurey 1er Monopole 'Clos Marcilly' Blanc 2020
95 POINTS: James Suckling
50-Year-Old Vines, Limestone Soils Grapes were harvested manually and carefully placed into small, well-ventilated boxes for careful transportation to the winery. Whole bunches were fermented in oak barrels in a classic vinification style. Ageing also took place in oak barrels.
“Generous yet subtle nose of many citrus fruits and crisp pears. A very focused and mineral Mercury, but only medium-bodied. Very long, refined and chalky finish with so much lemony freshness. This is one of the 3 original 1er Cru of Mercury. From grapes that were sustainably grown, with no use of herbicides. Drink or hold.” — James Suckling
We've been fans of their Syrah and Chardonnay for some time and this is another go-to product we'll add to the list.
Light in colour, but plenty of depth and flavour and pleasingly dry.
Highly recommended.
I haven’t tried every bottle in this selection yet, however, so far they are all very tasty. I’m a Chardonnay lover, always on the look out for a dryish not sweet wine and these are just right for me. An excellent mixed case and we’ll priced.
This was a very nice surprise in Wine Direct’s very welcome Plenty Under $20 category. Beautifully fruity, rich and smooth. Often the Plenty Under $20 range is a little light for the depth I like but I will definitely be reordering this one.
A great summer wine… elegant and a fine balance of lighter fruit and delicate acidity with a nice dry finish. Very drinkable with or without food. A nice change from our usual unoaked French Chardonnay
