100% Cariñena/Carignan Organic
"This wine is made exclusively from Cariñena/Carignan (called Samsó in Catalunya) from ancient 80 years old vines grown in poor, rocky and calcareous soil called “tapàs blanc”, from which Romans extracted stones for their buildings. Thanks to soil’s austerity, Cariñena offers a unique expression, with a high concentration, rich in nuances and complexity. Aromas display a series of black fruit and forest berries, along with floral aromas. The wine’s potential longevity is displayed on the palate, with a smooth entry, full-bodied, complex and a long spicy finish." - Winemakers Notes
This is very good value for money. A Piedmont red under $30! It has good dark fruit, some nice tannins and acid to balance although it would benefit from some more age to smooth it a bit but I liked its feistiness now.
I was happily surprised by the quality of the labels in the "mystery" case of rose wines - great value for the money I must say. Excellent drinking experience from the unfamiliar labels and happy to enjoy again the familiar ones.
