"It's been years since I tasted a Chinon. I even got a bit nervous before tasting this one. I desperately wanted it to be good. A memory of my time visiting the area with my wife 12 years ago. Well I wasn't disappointed. It delivered in spades!  A gorgeous aromatic nose, all red fruits and violet blossom. In the mouth, its lively acidity lifts the glorious red fruit, leading to a sensational spice and grippy savouriness on the finish. It's a wine that you just keep coming back to. Thirst quenching! I'd even serve this slightly chilled and have with just about any food. It's that versatile."

"Had high hopes for this one. Opened a pure and refreshing nose of ripe cherries, raspberries, blackcurrant and a hint of some florals. Exactly what you want from Cab Franc, hinting at all sorted of lovely just ripened red & black fruit. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a medium-bodied yet full and intense Chinon with concentrated fruit and silky-fine tannins on the long and refreshing finish. The wine has a seamless texture & is perfectly balanced. Lovely drinking now but a couple more years wouldn’t hurt it.  For Beaujolais lovers, or anyone who wants a concentrated but elegant and textured red."

We had a chin on the floor moment earlier this week when we tasted a sample of this superb Loire red! It's a beautiful example of the Cabernet Franc dominant wines Chinon is famous for.

Since 1885, six generations of the Bougrier family have mastered the art of winemaking in just about every appellation in the Loire Valley . From the Central vineyards of Sancerre to the Pays Nantais Bougrier have had their hand in some remarkable wines. This being one of them!
