Tahbilk Marsanne Museum Release 2018
TROPHY: Victorian Wine Show 2022
GOLD MEDAL: Victorian Wine Show 2022
"The 2018 Marsanne is a museum release and leads with cold buttered toast, lemon oil, scratched citrus and a hint of tatami mat/straw. On the palate, the wine is dry, savory and textural, and it is here that we begin to see the majesty of aged Marsanne at Tahbilk. It throws off the sweet fruit of youth and takes on a wide, textural, waxy quality that is ultra attractive. At six years of age, we are only just beginning to see the potential of the wine with serious age, but if you needed an insight into the spectrum of flavor that could be available to you, this is a great place to start. It's a lovely wine. This is an important wine for Victoria; it’s iconic and evocative of place."

Tahbilk’s history with Marsanne can be traced back to the 1860’s with the sourcing of ‘White Hermitage’ cuttings from the ‘St Huberts’ Vineyard in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. The cuttings were in fact Marsanne but sadly none of these plantings have survived. The Estate still does however produce Marsanne from vines established in 1927 – some of the oldest in the world. Tahbilk Marsanne has a dedicated global following due to its thrilling character and appeal as a young wine with intense lemon, citrus and tropical fruits on a crisp mineral edged finish. It’s proven ability to develop added complexity and character if cellared, when rich honeysuckle and citrus marmalade characters come to the fore, has led to the Purbrick family to set aside small quantities of each vintage to be then made available when bottle-aged.
