Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Bressandes’ 2020

Vineyard: Les Bressandes is a large 16.97-hectare Premier Cru vineyard within the Beaune appellation in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. The vineyard faces east and lies on a steep slope, ranging from 240 to 320 meters, with sandy brown limestone soil. Les Bressandes is considered among the finest vineyards in Beaune and produces round and rich wines of considerable elegance
"The 2020 Beaune Les Bressandes 1er Cru has a tightly-coiled nose that opens nicely in the glass, offering vibrant dark cherries and boysenberry fruit laced with violet petals. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with just a touch of white pepper towards the finish. I admire the silky texture here and it should drink well over the next 10 years.”

“This is quite ripe though manages to remain fresh with its aromas of black raspberry liqueur, cassis and pretty violet wisps. The refined, caressing and punchy medium-bodied flavors manage the trick of being very rich yet nicely detailed while terminating in a youthfully austere, balanced and firm finale. This is sufficiently firm to need at least 4 to 5 years first, and is a wine that should develop over a 10-to-12-year period.”
