The nose is full and balanced with superb aromatic power with, as so often, wild strawberry, blackberry, fresh fig, laurel, and white pepper, followed by nutty notes of walnut and hazelnut before culminating in notes of cacao and vanilla. This is absolutely brilliant buying. Truly rewarding, Languedoc-Roussillon Syrah from Calmel & Joseph, who have quite the reputation for producing quality, generously framed wines. There is loads of spice and savory palate weight on offer here, backed up with gentle oak and soft layers of silky tannins. It's incredibly smooth and easy to drink, and we love it.
