94 POINTS: Wine Direct Tasting Team
A unique blend of 35% Syrah. 35%, Piquepoul,15% Carignan & 15% Mourvèdre.
"Blackberry, cassis, and dark cherries, layered with subtle notes of licorice, spice, and gentle toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with structured yet elegant tannins, bright fruit, and a refreshing mineral-driven finish that gives the wine remarkable length and balance."

Château Fontarèche “1682 Origines” is a premium cuvée from the Corbières AOP in the Languedoc, Southern France, a region known for its sun‑baked vineyards and rugged, mineral-rich soils. The estate itself dates back centuries, with records of vines as early as 1350, and the name “1682” commemorates the year the property came into the hands of the Mignard family, whose descendants, the De Lamy family, continue to manage it today. The vineyard spans around 160 hectares, with gravelly clay soils that provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wine’s depth and structure. The cuvée is typically a blend of Syrah, Piquepoul Noir, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, with Piquepoul Noir offering aromatic brightness and freshness, while Syrah and Mourvèdre lend body and spice. Vinification combines traditional methods with careful temperature control, and select parcels may see some oak ageing to enhance complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
