Casali del Barone Langhe Barbera 2023
97 POINTS: Luca Maroni
GOLD MEDAL: Berliner Wine Trophy
This is a banger! Value for money meets 'character'. This wine is a great example what we are all about here at Wine Direct, supplying kiwi's with 'real wines'. Wines with character, made by interesting people from fascinating parts of the world.
Made from a blend of 85% Barbera and 15% Nebbiolo this red wine comes from the home of Barolo in the Piedmont region of Italy.
The colour is an intense ruby red and it has aromas of ripe red fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and round, with a soft finish of dark chocolate and black pepper. It is the ideal partner for roasted meats, anything off the BBQ & mature cheeses.
150+1 is reference to the collaboration between head winemaker Daniele Ress and the 150 members of the Vallebelbo cooperative where this wine is made. The Casali del Barone range showcases some of the most typical wines from the Piemonte Area at prices that don't break the bank.
