Brovia Dolcetto d'Alba Vignavillej 2023
5 STAR VALUE: Wine Direct Tasting Team
93+ POINTS: Heiner Lobenberg
91 POINTS: Antonio Galloni
50+ Year Old Vines, 14% Abv 100% Dolcetto, Organic
“This Dolcetto grows on three hectares, mostly in Serralunga and a small portion, approximately 0.2 hectares, in Castiglione Falletto. This means that it comes from the two most masculine appellations in the Langhe. This is due to the high iron content in the soils. The Vignavillej is made from very old vines, 50 years old or more! Dolcetto is usually bottled after just a few months, but this one remains in steel tanks for an unusual 18 months, never seeing wood. The density is incredibly high for a Dolcetto.”

“For any of you lucky enough to try Brovia’s Dolcetto d'Alba 'Solatio', then you will appreciate the finesse and serious approach that Alex takes towards his Dolcetto. While Solatio offers a late picked version of his Dolcetto d'Alba, this more traditional wine also has intensity, and great body derived from the very old vines. An instantly enticing nose of blackberries, cherries, violets, jasmine, & rosemary kick-starts our love affair with this fabulous red. This is velvety and juicy with silky, fine tannins giving good length. A mouth-filling Dolcetto, with good freshness and instant appeal!”
