"From old bush vines in Puglia, this flagship release from Cantine San Marzano delivers a rich and opulent expression of Primitivo. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with intense aromas of ripe black cherry, plum compote and blackberry, layered with notes of cocoa, sweet spice. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with concentrated dark fruit, mocha and subtle toasted oak framed by supple, well-integrated tannins. Powerful yet polished, it finishes long, warm and harmonious — a superb match for slow-braised beef, lamb shoulder or aged hard cheeses."
Founded in 1962 by 19 growers in the heart of Puglia, Cantine San Marzano has grown into one of southern Italy’s most respected wine producers. Based in San Marzano di San Giuseppe in the Primitivo di Manduria zone, the cooperative works with hundreds of local growers, many tending old bush vines rooted in the region’s red, iron-rich soils. Combining traditional Apulian viticulture with modern winemaking technology, San Marzano is known for producing rich, characterful wines that express the warmth and intensity of the Salento peninsula. Today, the estate enjoys strong international acclaim, with multiple award-winning wines that consistently showcase the depth and quality of Puglia’s indigenous varieties.
