Selbach-Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling GG 2021

“The 2021 Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG is wonderfully intense but bright and clear as well as finely flinty on the nose that also shows the delicate, weathered blue slate aromas of the famous cru from whose lower section this cru is sourced (adjacent to Markus Molitor and Dr. Loosen). On the palate, this is a dense and intense, lush and enormously salty, very long and stimulating WSU that was fermented fully dry but remains lean on the tensioned finish. Still cloudy but very, very promising and long. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted as a sample in July 2022.”

“A whole garden of summer flowers leap from the glass. Very succulent and elegant although it is dry with a light-footedness that’s a joy to experience. The first vintage of this wine. Very long, refined finish. Drink or hold.”
