Red Hut Single Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2024
95 POINTS: NWIWS 2025
GOLD MEDAL: NZIWS 20205
17.5/20: Joelle Thomson
“Pinot Noir is Central Otago’s calling card and this wine delivers it with flair; fragrant red cherries and ripe redcurrants take centre stage in a medium bodied wine with gentle spice and a whisper of wild thyme on the finish —a signature of the region’s majestic landscapes. It was matured in older French oak for 12 months, prior to bottling.”
- Joelle Thomson
This is the inaugural release from Red Hut – a new collection of small-parcel, contemporary wines showcasing the excellence and diversity of New Zealand winemaking. Crafted under the direction of Wine Direct Hero Cory Ryan, the grapes for this Pinot comes from the Lowburn sub-region, located within Central Otago and nestled along the western shores of Lake Dunstan. The region’s free-draining soils, typically a mix of loess, schist and gravel, encourage deep root development and naturally limit yields, contributing to concentration and complexity in the fruit.
