"My old mate Steve Bennett MW sent me a bottle of the Piqueras ‘Nature’ Anfora Organic Syrah Parcelas Singulares 2022 with a cryptic note suggesting I would like to taste this wine!  I was more than sceptical. Everything about it screamed marketing gimmick. Squat bottle, buzz words – "organic", "Anfora", "single vineyard", every bottle numbered etc! Steve knows his stuff so I dutifully opened it and poured into the recommended big burgundy glass. ….and WOW!

Now,  I have been lucky enough to try some lovely Syrah in my time but this was something else.  The nose was dominated by lovely fragrant ripe (but not too ripe) blue and black fruit, the palate was seamless, pure and detailed. The thing I loved the most was there was nothing ‘flashy’ about it, not over oaked or over ripe, just everything in perfect balance.  A wine to drink now with a smile on your face and one to ponder on how it will taste in 5 years.  Over the last few weeks I've been on a personal crusade to get this wine to as many customers as possible. ALL have come back for more (except one….you know who you are 😊).  Great wine, I've even dipped into my own 'hard earned' and bought a case!"

With slow and progressive maturation, the wine ferments naturally without the addition of sulphites, so as to achieve a better extraction of the colour and the primary and fruit aromas of the grapes and maintain the aromatic typicity as much as possible. It then rests for a year in terracotta amphorae that give it minerality and preserve its typicality.
