"Powerfully graceful, this delicious shiraz shows black/blueberry, plum jam, mixed spice, cedar and cocoa characters on the nose with a touch of dried herb complexity. The palate is wonderfully weighted and fleshy, delivering excellent depth and richness, backed by loads of silky tannins. At its best: now to 2028." – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Mitolo’s first release, G.A.M. was named in honour of Frank Mitolo’s three children – Gemma, Alexander and Marco.
Located in close proximity to the Gulf of St Vincent in the Whites Valley district of McLaren Vale between the towns of Willunga and Aldinga. Black and grey Biscay clays predominate, sitting over alluvial Ngaltinga formation. Sea breezes mediate day time heat while the cracking clays reduce vigour during the critical ripening period. These factors help to produce a wine of depth and concentration.
I was happily surprised by the quality of the labels in the "mystery" case of rose wines - great value for the money I must say. Excellent drinking experience from the unfamiliar labels and happy to enjoy again the familiar ones.
