"...darker fruit, liquorice, aniseed, finely spicy with red and dark berries and violet. Dense palate, higher freshness than the others, well integrated acidity with a good firm tannic grip balanced by decadent fruit, some notes of patisserie and kirsch, very long finish."
- Andreas Larsson, Tasted
"The 2016 Domaine de l'Aurage, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, offers plenty of red cherry and strawberry fruit on the nose, with the oak nicely integrated. It is actually quite Burgundy-like in style. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, plenty of confit-like fruit with a gentle grip on the finish. Enjoy this lovely Côtes de Castillon from the Mitjavile family over the next 5-7 years."
Domaine de l’Aurage is the third Bordeaux estate under the stewardship of the renowned Mitjavile family, joining their prestigious properties: Tertre Rotebœuf in Saint-Émilion and Roc des Cambes in the Côtes de Bourg. With the same commitment to excellence and distinctive style, Domaine de l’Aurage carries forward the family legacy in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.
The 20 hectare, vineyard of Domaine de l’Aurage is 95% Merlot & and 5% Cabernet Franc. On average the vines are 25 years of age. The terroir is the perfect combination of good limestone and clay terroir soils just across the border from Saint Emilion.
