13% Abv The Bürgstadter Berg extends into the Erftal, which is a cooler side valley of the Maintal. The small river runs along in front of Centgrafenberg and Hundsrück. It is cooler here than on the slope in Klingenberg. Over 90 percent of the estate (Tradition) Pinot Noir grows in Bürgstadt locations, 40 year old vines in specially designated plots. The younger vines from the Bürgstadter Grands Crus are also included here. Spontaneously fermented with around 30 percent stalks and aged for 16 months in Burgundian barriques, no new wood at all.

“The 2023 Pinot Noir has a deliciously hedonistic fruitiness; it's leaner and finer than 2022, less forceful, more tender on the palate. What a charming, delicate, and embracing wine! Sweet cherry, a touch of sloe, and red wild berries on the nose, with plenty of drive from the sour cherry and even a hint of currant in the mouth. After the very dark and serious 2022, this is a truly joyful, approachable, and exquisite Pinot Noir. Closer to the cooler classic of 2019, more red fruity and less blocky. Great finesse even in the Gutswein , but also the cool, racy punch is there. This is Cool Climate Pinot Noir, as it can only come from Germany – fantastic! For Pinot fans, a Gutswein to fall in love with. Many would be happy to have something like this as Ortswein or Erste Lage to fill, that is a league of its own in the Gutswein.”
