“Wow. The 2020 Smith-Cullam Syrah is such a distinctly perfumed and characterful wine. Abundant flowers adorn the nose here: lavender, violets, lilac, winter mandarin, pink peppercorn, citrus blossom, blackberry, plum, licorice, clove, star anise and fennel flower. In the mouth, the graphite, black tea tannins provide an invisible support for the fruit. The wine is silky, svelte, concentrated and fine. Through the finish, a very precise and delicate musk stick perfume lingers long after the wine has gone. It's a beauty.”
