Based in Galgon on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château Jalousie Beaulieu is a family-run estate with the Person family now in its fifth generation. The vineyards sit on clay and gravel slopes, ideally suited to Merlot, and the family combines generations of vineyard know-how with modern winemaking and a strong focus on sustainable viticulture.
The 2022 Bordeaux Supérieur is classic Right Bank Bordeaux in a deliciously approachable style — 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The grapes are hand-selected at harvest, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and given six months in tank to preserve the wine’s fresh, juicy fruit.
In the glass, expect ripe blackberries and red fruit, soft tannins, fresh acidity and a subtle savoury edge. It’s generous, smooth and uncomplicated in the best possible way — the sort of Bordeaux that works equally well with a Sunday roast, steak, burgers or a plate of hard cheese.
