'REMARKABLE' RATING: Le Guide Hachette des Vins
89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Malbec
Since 1464, the Chateau Bourdieu vineyard has flourished on the terroirs of the right bank of the Gironde. Now owned by the Schweitzer family, it covers 75 hectares of AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, northwest of St. Emilion and Pomerol. Luc and his two sons Ludovic and Richard live and breathe this terroir. Each wine they produce is made with the same passion and attention as wines ten times the price. Every vintage they turn out an impressive wine but this 2022 may be the best one yet. A classic blend of 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Malbec, it's fully deserving of its Gold Medal and 95 Points from Decanter World Wine Awards!
Chateau Bourdieu, one of the oldest estates in Blayais owes its name to the "bourdieus", wine farms that developed after the Hundred Years' War. The 45-hectare vineyard is in the process of converting to organic farming.
“From a vineyard dating back to 1464, this 2022 vintage is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. A licorice aroma and ripe red fruits lead to a solid wine layered with tannins and acidity in balance. Still young, the wine will be ready from 2026.”

“Well perfumed, adorned with notes of sweet spices and jammy black fruits, this wine seduces from the outset. We also like its ample and fleshy mouth, carried by ripe and silky tannins and a long finish. A very harmonious whole, with also a beautiful freshness.”
— ‘Remarkable’ Rating: Le Guide Hachette des Vins
“A wealth of juicy blueberry, mulberry and black cherry fruit which is cushioned by a layer of charming toasty oak and glowering tannins. Lifted and persistent.”
