100% Barbera

Named for a small vineyard hut (compare with the French Cabotte) by a fig tree in Brovia's vineyards, this Barbera is all about terroir, and some might even say it is more evidently Castiglione than Barbera. It is refined, structured and extremely long-lived, but never loses focus with a classic aromatic profile and generous texture.

This cuvée is from a one-hectare old-vines plot in Serralunga d’Alba at 350 meters altitude, some of which was planted in 1960 and another parcel planted in 1981. Aged in a mix of stainless steel and small oak (French) barrels; the wine is then assembled prior to being bottled (unfiltered) after 10 months of aging.

“Barbera d'Alba Ciabot del Fi, Brovia's top Barbera, is rich and voluptuous in the glass. Dark fruit, spicy earth, hint of new leather and a back up of forest floor. The tannins are present but nicely restrained, with good acid & fruit balance that make it a true joy to drink. The finish is long and polished and will age for quite a few years years. A real gem.”

“The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Ciabot del Fi captures all the intensity of Serralunga in its dark, bold fruit. Black cherry, plum, licorice, cloves, incense and tobacco all meld together eortlessly. This imposing, muscular Barbera has a ton to offer. Nine months' aging in cask are well judged.”
