13.5% Abv, Lagrein Variety
This Lagrein comes from the younger vineyards; the grapes grow on porphyry weathering soils in Rentsch and St. Magdalena. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and subsequent ageing in large oak barrels for about eight months. Thanks to the ideal growing locations, this wine is always very juicy and extremely easy to drink. It develops the typical colorful, full-bodied character of the South Tyrolean grape variety with aromas of berries, plums and dark chocolate.
"A dark blend of crushed rocks, black currants and exotic spice wafts up from the 2021 Lagrein. It’s round and soothing on the palate, with ripe blackberries and sour citrus tones forming a display of contrasts. This finishes with a stern tannic grip, potent and long, leaving masses of tart wild berry fruit to resonate on. This young Lagrein will require some cellaring to come into focus fully." —90 Points, Vinous Media
The Untermoserhof winery was first mentioned in writing in 1630 and is currently run by Georg Ramoser, his wife Margareth and son Florian, the fourth generation of the family to do so. The main focus is on working close to nature in order to produce typical, elegant, authentic quality wines on four hectares of land. The focus is on Vernatsch and Lagrein. The St. Magdalena Hub comes from a vineyard of old vines: a very powerful and full-bodied St. Magdalena. The Untermoserhof can also impress with Merlot, Lagrein and Chardonnay. One of our newcomers of the year!

I enjoyed the wine in so far as it is well rounded - the taste of black fruit evident - not sure about the liquorice though. All in all for the price a pleasant easy drinking wine.

Super ripe very smooth dry red, with just a hint of Cherries in that Italian style and You are able to drink this wine with or without food, Very good value at $20.
We've been fans of their Syrah and Chardonnay for some time and this is another go-to product we'll add to the list.
Light in colour, but plenty of depth and flavour and pleasingly dry.
Highly recommended.
