Collection: E Pira-Chiara

Chiara Boschis has an incredible story. In a region where women winemakers are far from the norm she has built a collection of wines that is the envy of many. The E Pira e Figli estate was passed from father to son for centuries, until the late 1980’s when Luigi Pira passed away. At that time his sisters who inherited the vineyards felt that they could no longer maintain the estate. Hoping to keep the tradition alive they sold the estate to Chiara Boschis, whose family had long been friends of the Pira’s.

We have been importing these treasures for the last 9 years and they have never missed a beat, and are amongst the first wines the staff members swarm over for their own cellars!  Always a sure sign in these parts. More recently critic Jeb Dunnuck has tasted the range and has come back with rave reviews, we are especially pleased he has recognised and scored the ‘non Barolo’ wines in the range.  We have always thought the Dolcetto and Barbera were bench mark examples and to see them recognised by a major critic in this way is great to see!
