When you think of French wine, famous appellations from Burgundy or Bordeaux are the first names that come to mind; wines with strong characters and powerful flavours, internationally recognized and worshipped. But those in the know understand that there are many other fantastic wines elsewhere in France, and not least in the southwest. East of Bordeaux and west of the Rhône, is known by locals as the Midi and it is one of France's hidden treasures.
