Cuevas de Arom Os Cantals 2020
95 POINTS: Luis Gutierrez; Robert Parker's - The Wine Advocate
70+ year old vines of slate over iron rich sandy clay soils.
"The single-vineyard Garnacha 2020 Os Cantals, whose name denotes a soil covered in slate, comes from a dry-farmed and head-pruned 70-year-old vineyard on red, iron-rich soils. It fermented in open-top oak barrels with indigenous yeasts and full clusters that were foot trodden, then the wine matured in 456-liter oak barrels for 13 months. This is subtler and deeper than the Las Ladieras, but it comes from a similar mold. It's beautifully textured with citrus freshness, and it's refined and elegant with great tension and ultra fine tannins. 3,200 bottles were filled in September 2021."

Os Cantals is an old vineyard of Garnacha estimated to be around 70 years old. Located at an elevation of 700m above sea level and featuring iron-rich sandy and clay soil covered in slate, this is a darker style of Garnacha with a lift of herbal aromas and a hint of orange peel freshness in the finish. While the tannins are firm, as one would expect from such a site, they are well-rounded and provide the framework on which the wine’s flavors express themselves.
