Chateau Saint-Roch Maury Sec Kerbuccio 2018
95 POINTS: Wine Direct Tasting Team
94 POINTS: Jeb Dunnuck (Previous vintage)
"BLOCKBUSTER ALERT! As always we LOVE this wine, and the 2018 is no different. Kerbuccio is a blockbuster Grenache/Syrah blend showing lovely kirsch nose with bags of ripe and authentic Maury fruit. The palate is round & fleshy, with a delicious richness of dark super ripe berries, wild flowers and a touch of mountain garrigue. Full-bodied, rich, and deep. Although this is a big full bodied wine there are no hard edges and it displays beautiful balance . Bravo!"

"One of the greatest values in the wine world has to be the Kerbuccio cuvée from Jean-Marc Lafage’s Chateau Saint Roch estate in Maury...Checking in as a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, it’s a blockbuster, deep, massive effort that just screams Grenache from Maury. Ripe blackberries, melted chocolate, black cherries, and cured meat notes all emerge from this beautifully textured, layered, opulent wine that stays balanced and pure. Brought up in 80% new demi-muids, it shows no sense of its oak élevage, has beautiful purity and freshness, and tastes like it cost 4-5 times the price."

For 12 years, we have worked with Jean-Marc Lafage and his estate in the Roussillon and across the border in Spain, where he consults on several projects. As good as his wines were when we first met him, they only get better with each vintage, and this new cuvee is a great example of the amazing strides he and his team continue to make. As always, unbelievable value!
