"The 2020 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Corbarol is 80% Syrah & 20% Grenache aged 14 months in a combination of concrete tanks and old oak demi-muids. Like virtually all of the Lafage-affiliated wines, it overdelivers for the price, offering up bushels of blueberries, cherries and dark stone fruit, tamed into savoriness on the finish by hints of wood spice and black olives. It's full-bodied and concentrated but supple, making it drinkable now and over the next five or so years."

"The 2020 Cotes du Roussillon Vieilles Vignes (or Old Vines Red, as it is labeled for the U.S. market) is a 65-35 blend of Grenache and Syrah, all from the Ugly Valley, on soils of black schist. Aged in a mix of tank and 500-liter used barrels, it offers up peppery scents, hints of crushed stone and notes of eucalyptus, blueberries and black olives. It's medium to full-bodied, silky in texture but concentrated, with a long, mouthwatering finish."

For 12 years, we have worked with Jean-Marc Lafage and his estate in the Roussillon and across the border in Spain, where he consults on several projects. As good as his wines were when we first met him, they only get better with each vintage, and this new cuvee is a great example of the amazing strides he and his team continue to make.  As always, unbelievable value!
