The 2019 Château Pontet Barrail is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the remainder small amounts of Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc.
Cru Bourgeois is always a step up in quality in the Médoc and Château Pontet Barrail is a lovely example from a family that has been awarded this status since 1932. Château Pontet Barrail covers 17 hectares of land composed of clay-limestone and sandy-gravelly soils. The vines have an average age of 38 years. The vines thrive in this terroir which allows them to reach their full potential. Most recently in 2011, the family was over the moon to win the ‘Coupe des Crus Bourgeois’.
