Chateau Landreau, Cotes de Bourg 2016
92 POINTS: Wine Enthusiast
"Made with firmly structured Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon, this solid wine conveys a sense of power and concentration. Richness is seen in full-bodied black fruits that are balanced by acidity. This is a wine with a good future; drink from 2021."
- Wine Enthusiast
"With a typical "Côtes de Bourg" bouquet, Château Landreau combines fruitiness, finesse, roundness and tannic structure. The typicality of Merlot gives it hints of slightly chocolatey black cherries. Over the years, it will become one of the great wines of Côtes de Bourg, a flagship of Bordeaux wines. Charismatic wine, it goes perfectly with game, red meats and goes well with cheeses of character. It also accompanies any type of spicy cuisine."
- Winery Notes
Located on the 1st line of ridges of the Côtes de Bourg, on the right bank of the Gironde, Château Landreau has been in the Bayle-Carreau family since 1995. They have painstakingly reconstructed a vineyard there which had disappeared for 30 years following the freezing of winter 1956. A former carriage museum, Château Landreau has been completely renovated to regain its original function, with a modern vat room using the best winemaking techniques.
The terroir is composed of deep clays mixed with the serious red typical of the Côtes de Bourg. Exposed south-west, with a rugged relief, it presents all the guarantees for a vineyard of exceptional quality. From its dominant position, you can see the edges of the Estuary as well as Bordeaux and its left bank.
