Clarry’s is a blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro with old vine Grenache from the 1940s and 1960s. The wine is fermented in open-top fermenters and basket pressed. To preserve the superb fresh fruit flavours of the wine, it is only aged in very old oak hogsheads and only for a limited time of 3-4 months. Clarry’s is soft and fruit-driven with flavours of raspberry, perfume, clove and spice. It is mouthwatering with a muscular structure and great length.
Bright red with purple edge. Aromas of vivid lifted spice, raspberry compote, violets, toffee apple, strawberry ice-cream, fresh flowers, earth. Succulent, medium-bodied, soft, rounded palate. Fine definition, crunch, freshness, balance. Red, blue fruits, chewy earthiness. Subtle tannins, muscular backbone. Long finish, very drinkable.
The wine looks like one I shall enjoy and boast of once having consumed it.I intend sharing this splendid red with our son over Christmas - happy to furnish you with a tasting review then and , hopefully, purchase a few more bottles.
Took a punt on the 2011 Kairos Sauvignon Blanc & was pleasantly surprised at the drinkability of aged Sauv, I do not usually drink Sauvignon Blanc's but after drinking the Kairos I will drink more.
