"What a glorious Syrah the 2021 vintage has produced! It is an intense purple red, with a superbly balanced nose of wild strawberries, blackberries, and laurel, followed by peppermint and fresh coconut. The tannins are supple, melting, and smooth, underpinning the fullness and length of the palate. As in previous years we find the characteristic notes of blackcurrant and blackberry with a finish on notes of cinnamon, lemon verbena and vanilla. Pure sunshine in a bottle!"

Our good friends Laurent Calmel and Jerome Joseph of Calmel & Joseph fame, and the creators of the amazing Villa Blanche range sent us a very interesting e mail a few months back. They had made a range premium custom wines for a large European wine retailer. Unfortunately, the order fell through and they were left with a number of pallets of top quality southern French wines without a home. They looked to their mates down under to help them out, we didn’t need a second nudge, we jumped on the excess stock and shipped it down to New Zealand for all our loyal Wine Direct Customers. You will hear a lot that this is the ‘once in a lifetime deal’, most of the time this is rubbish….but in this case you better believe it.
